A desktop toy that jumps to notify you when Claude Code needs input or finishes a response.
I created a custom USB Clawd that hops to notify you when Claude needs attention, inspired from Ben James' blog. It connects to your laptop through USB-C, and can be modified to hop to anything you want (iMessages, Slack, music, etc).
The overall structure is comprised of two 3D printed parts: an inner and an outer piece. The inner piece mounts all the electronics: a USB-C female head, a 5v solenoid, a MOSFET driver, and a SAMD21 microcontroller. The outer case screws to the inner piece, and also holds a brass bushing.
While the electronic design can definitely be compacted, this configuration minimizes soldering for small scale production
Lastly, the mascot on top has a press-fit doweling that simply drops into the bushing. This design allows you to easily switch out the mascot to match the occasion.
